Organic Whole Oat Groats

$5.25 Regular Price
  • Product Info

Whole grain oats are also known as groats. “Groat” is an old Scottish word for any hulled grain, but it’s mainly used for oats in modern English, while “berry” is used for whole grains of wheat and rye. Our organic whole grain oats are rich in B-vitamins, calcium, protein and fiber, and low in sodium and unsaturated fat. They have a pleasing texture and wholesome nutty taste. You can use them as you would wheat berries — for grain bowls, pilafs, soups, stews, and hot cereal.

Cook up your whole oats as you would brown rice, with about 3 parts water to 1 part grain. The amount of time will vary, depending on if you cook them on top of the stove, in a crock-pot slow-cooker, or in an insta-pot or pressure cooker — check out our helpful guide and recipes. Use the cooked oats for breakfast cereal, soups, stews, pilafs, casseroles and grain salads.

Easy does it

I was so excited to try these groats for the health benefits. I also have always enjoyed overnight oats, etc. After cooking them for more than an hour and preparing my jar for the next morning, I continued eating the groats with fruit for 3 out of 4 days. However, my stomach was practically breaking on Day 4 😖. I recommend easing into this hearty grain. It took a few days for the pain to subside. Maybe I’ll go back to a 1/2 cup serving once a week but then what benefits will I really obtain? Just a word of advice for those with sensitive stomachs.

Excellent oat groats. The ones I've tried before had many groats with hulls, making eating them unpleasant. Thank you for your superior product!

Excelent product and service

I ordered a couple small bags of oat groats since the larger size was unavailable. After about a week I realized I hadn’t seen a confirmation email from Janies. Searched, no luck, so I called, but hung up after I heard instructions to email about order questions. I did not leave a message, but an employee called back to ask if I needed help. She told me the confirmation email had been sent (indeed I missed it), and the grain arrived shortly thereafter. A very clean and nice product, I might add.so I’m happy with Janie’s all around. Thanks!!!

Awesome product!

So hard to find oat groats in a store let alone organic ones. (trying to avoid carcinogenic, commercially grown glysphate laden grains) I am grateful for this company for offering such amazing products! Thank you for all you do.
