    We grow our organic Warthog wheat berries on Janie's Farm, just down the road from Janie's Mill. This variety of hard red winter wheat has a moderate protein level and outstanding flavor. It's popular among home millers because it makes a delicious and high-performing all-purpose flour. The berries are also great when cooked up and used in grain bowls, soups, stews, and pilafs.

Amazing flavor

Made waffles using these, and my guests could not believe they were whole wheat. Amazing flavor. I cannot stop praising Janies Mill. I am looking forward to my next neatly boxed delivery with the packing note!

Fast becoming a family favorite.

I'm not sure if it's this batch, or the characteristics of this wheat, but, it seems on the high end of the moisture line. For those that are new to milling, it makes a wetter dough. But, don't let that stop you from using it. This wheat takes a couple more minutes to develop it's stretch, but, it really shines after the rest period. It seems sticky, but retains it's stretch. For me, I have found it works better for rolls, VS loaves. The loaves tend to dry out very fast and are crumbly. But rolls, it works out perfectly. My family thinks I am making pretzel rolls. 😆 That's what they say it tastes like. Who am I to argue? lol..

Very flavorful in dishes

Judging by the reviews here, we seem to be the only customers who eat these berries as berries.
Because we strictly follow a WFPBNO diet in our family, eating these cooked and added to dishes is how we enjoy them as they have such a great flavor. We just ordered them to be shipped monthly.
Maybe I should try making bread with them!
